In Clinic Sleep Testing
In clinic Sleep Testing is considered the gold standard for accurate diagnoses of sleep related disorders. An in-lab Sleep study is conducted on site at one of our state-of-the-art Sleep Clinics. Patients arrive in the evening close to their regular bed time. They are greeted by a Sleep Technologist who will take them to their private suite. Bathroom with modern, full shower facilities are available on site. All of our sites are fully wheelchair accessible.
Once there the Sleep Tech will explain the procedure and conduct a thorough interview in a relaxed atmosphere to ensure the Sleep Specialist has all the necessary information. Patients can also expect to fill out two to three forms answering some very basic questions about their normal day to day routines.
Following that the Sleep Technologist will instruct the patient to change into their sleepwear and once done they will begin attaching a series of non-invasive electrodes and sensors which will collect data pertaining to their brainwaves, eye movements, muscle tone, heart rate, oxygen levels and breathing.

Once hooked up you’ll retire to your bed and the Sleep tech will walk you through a few calibration exercises to help establish a baseline for your sleep.
After that it’s lights out. At any point in the evening you can change sleeping position or get up to use the washroom.
In the morning you are gently awoken where the Sleep Tech will unhook you from all the sensors applied the previous night. Once free of impediment you can shower in one of our many shower facilities and after filling up a post sleep questionnaire you are free to begin your day!
The data collected will get scored by a Registered Sleep Technologist and then forwarded to a Sleep Specialist for interpretation. You will be contacted for a consult to discuss the results. Often, sleeping in a new environment can be difficult and it can feel like you didn’t get much sleep, but our sophisticated array of monitors is able to capture minor variances which can help lead to diagnoses and ensure accurate results!
All procedures for an in clinic Sleep test including consult is covered by OHIP.
